Dulcimer, Wine, and Thunder
A selection of songs from Moravian folklore in which folk poetry touches on the timeless theme of changeable weather. Rain, wind, thunder, and sunshine become metaphors in these songs for human moods, relationships, and both joys and sorrows.
The concert is inspired by the figure of Prokop Diviš, who worked in Znojmo and Přímětice and whose name is associated not only with research into electricity and lightning, but also with bold attempts to bridge science and music. His experimental instrument, the Denis d’or, which uses electrified strings, is often considered one of the first steps toward electrophonic musical instruments.
The program thus symbolically connects the world of folk music with a fascination for the elements of nature and the human desire to understand their power. Performed by the Ohnica Dulcimer Band, Moravia comes to life as a land of wine, songs, and a changing sky—a land where thunder roars and hearts sing.
Event description
The program includes a lighthearted lecture by festival president Jiří Ludvík, inspired by the inventor Prokop Diviš, who worked in Přímětice near Znojmo. This is followed by a discussion accompanied by the cimbalom: CM Ohnica and Antonín Stehlík’s Cimbalom Band.
