Jazz concerts in Znojmo 2027

To mark the 90th anniversary of George Gershwin’s death, we present an evening dedicated to his unmistakable melodies. The programme will feature famous songs that have become part of the world’s musical heritage, including Summertime, I Got Rhythm, The Man I Love, and more.

Gershwin’s music brings together elegance, passion, melancholy, and the joy of life, showing how naturally classical virtuosity, jazz rhythms, and the power of the human voice can coexist.

Swedish guitarist Alf Carlsson and Czech trumpeter Jiří Kotača joined forces to form an international quartet, born out of their shared studies in Rotterdam. Their music blends lyrical Scandinavian melodies and modern jazz with elements of R’n’B, hip-hop, pop and rock, enhanced by live electronics and a distinctive sound.

Joined by Slovak jazz musicians Peter Korman and Kristián Kuruc, the quartet has performed dozens of concerts across Europe and Asia. This year, they present their new album, Our Stories.

Musicians from Znojmo, basing themselves on a faithful interpretation of Jazz of the pre-swing era, will present you with a new repertoire as well as proven evergreens.

Kyla’s voice remains a stunning example of the art of soul singing: it warms, draws you in, and captivates before unleashing an emotional catharsis that blurs the line between pleasure and pain. Whether she is fronting her Kyla Brox Band or harnessing the undiluted power of soul in a duo with her musical and life partner Danny Blomeley, Kyla Brox is undoubtedly one of the most powerful British blues and soul singers of her generation. Born in Lancashire in 1980, she grew up immersed in African-American music from the very beginning — her father, Victor, was a blues singer. She was the late “product” of the marriage between Victor (who played Caiaphas in the original recording cast of Jesus Christ Superstar) and Annette (who played the “maid by the fire” in the same production). As a result, she spent her formative years in the back of the family van, travelling constantly around Britain on tour, surrounded by a blue haze of marijuana smoke. As a performer, Kyla joined the family business in 1992 at the age of just 12.

Slovenian blues singer and guitarist Paul Batto has captivated audiences across Europe with his deep voice, earthy guitar sound, and distinctive songs filled with emotion and storytelling. His music draws from the roots of blues, swing, and gospel, while his understated and tasteful style can be just as captivating as his powerful ballads. Since 2003, he has been performing extensively both as a solo artist and as a duo with Czech pianist Ondra Kříž, with whom he has recorded a number of acclaimed albums.

The New Elles Bailey! An artist with such a phenomenal voice hardly needs an introduction. She previously toured the Czech Republic with Matt Long, followed by a second tour with the Czech art-blues stars The Bladderstones. In the meantime, she has moved beyond her status as a “rising star” and firmly established herself on the British blues-rock and soul scene. In 2024, she received the Contemporary Blues Artist of the Year 2024 award at the British Blues Awards (BBA).

British blues guitarist Greg Brice captivates audiences with his virtuoso fingerstyle guitar playing, distinctive slide technique, and a voice that can be just as gentle as it is powerful and compelling. His authentic music sits at the crossroads of blues and Americana, built above all on strong songwriting and stories that have earned him recognition on the British blues scene. Following the release of his debut album in 2022, he received three UK Blues Awards nominations, including a nomination for Emerging Act of the Year.

Invisible Touch – The Music of Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel & Genesis. After exploring the music of The Beatles and Queen, the Walter Fischbacher Trio turns its attention to another group of musical legends – the world of Genesis and their two iconic frontmen, Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel. Their legendary hits are given a fresh jazz treatment, full of energy, groove, and improvisation. The set will feature songs such as Don’t Give Up, Sledgehammer, In the Air Tonight, Follow You Follow Me, Mama, Sussudio, Can’t Hurry Love, I Can’t Dance, and many other well-known tracks. Join us for a concert where legendary pop and rock meet jazz and the energy of New York’s clubs. Expect plenty of groove, free-flowing improvisation, and outstanding musicianship.

Dead Beatz prove that you don’t need a big band to create a truly powerful blues sound. Drummer David Karlinger, who plays the drums with his feet while simultaneously controlling the harmonica, and double bassist and vocalist Bernie Miller create a raw, pure and uncompromising blues sound full of energy and groove. From the classics of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee to rock’n’roll favourites, Dead Beatz will draw you into their live show and won’t let you go.

No dance choreography, but plenty of jazz feeling, wit and musical talent that doesn’t run in the family by chance. And who knows – perhaps the apple really doesn’t fall far from the piano! Father and son, two generations, one piano and a generous dose of jazz! PETER LIPA Sr., patron of JazzFest Znojmo, a legend of Slovak jazz and one of its most distinctive voices, will perform alongside his son, PETER LIPA Jr.

Following a successful appearance at Blues Alive 2025, Victor Sbrovazzo is returning to his roots and hitting the road once again as the solo incarnation of Dirty Deep. Victor is touring across Europe, spreading his musical gospel. He sees his music as a way of life — the rhythm of the drums, the sound of the harmonica, and his voice as a form of redemption. And now, after several years, he will bring his solo show back to Znojmo…
