Jazz Weekend in the Clubs: Futur Swing (CZ)

Unlike traditional swing revival projects that focus mainly on preserving the past, Futur Swing seeks to explore new directions in interpretation and improvisation. With a distinctive use of violin, saxophone, and an unconventional guitar-banjo hybrid, the group brings a fresh sonic dimension to the genre. Their creative approach to improvisation not only reflects the techniques of Django Reinhardt but also ventures into modern harmonies and rhythmic structures. Futur Swing is not merely a nostalgic journey into the past—it is a bridge connecting the classic elements of gypsy swing with a new era. Through their performance, listeners experience not only Reinhardt’s legacy but also travel through new and refreshing soundscapes shaped by a modern interpretation of this iconic genre.

For more than twenty-five years, Charlie has been thrilling audiences at home and across Europe with his electrifying take on rock ’n’ roll and blues in all their captivating shades. His music is uncompromisingly pulsating, wild, and fueled by unrestrained energy. Alpha Trianguli (AT)

The band is deeply inspired by the beauty and vastness of the universe. The four musicians from Vienna love to embark on journeys into the infinity of sonic worlds and let themselves be carried away by them. At times earthy and energetic—as if approaching a planet—at other times calm, gently buoyed by curiosity as they explore new worlds. They are a microcosm unto themselves: around the gravitational field of the double bass, the rhythms of the drums orbit in steady cycles, the magical, shimmering sound of the vibraphone fills the empty spaces, and into them resounds the earthy, warm tone of the trombone—like a voice released into the cosmos.

At the end of 2023, the quartet ALPHA TRIANGULI released its debut album, Entering Zero Gravity, on the Swiss label Unit Records.

The concert will be presented in cooperation with the Austrian Cultural Forum in Prague.
