To mark the 90th anniversary of George Gershwin’s death, we present an evening dedicated to his unmistakable melodies. The programme will feature famous songs that have become part of the world’s musical heritage, including Summertime, I Got Rhythm, The Man I Love, and more.

Gershwin’s music brings together elegance, passion, melancholy, and the joy of life, showing how naturally classical virtuosity, jazz rhythms, and the power of the human voice can coexist.

Swedish guitarist Alf Carlsson and Czech trumpeter Jiří Kotača joined forces to form an international quartet, born out of their shared studies in Rotterdam. Their music blends lyrical Scandinavian melodies and modern jazz with elements of R’n’B, hip-hop, pop and rock, enhanced by live electronics and a distinctive sound.

Joined by Slovak jazz musicians Peter Korman and Kristián Kuruc, the quartet has performed dozens of concerts across Europe and Asia. This year, they present their new album, Our Stories.

Kyla’s voice remains a stunning example of the art of soul singing: it warms, draws you in, and captivates before unleashing an emotional catharsis that blurs the line between pleasure and pain. Whether she is fronting her Kyla Brox Band or harnessing the undiluted power of soul in a duo with her musical and life partner Danny Blomeley, Kyla Brox is undoubtedly one of the most powerful British blues and soul singers of her generation. Born in Lancashire in 1980, she grew up immersed in African-American music from the very beginning — her father, Victor, was a blues singer. She was the late “product” of the marriage between Victor (who played Caiaphas in the original recording cast of Jesus Christ Superstar) and Annette (who played the “maid by the fire” in the same production). As a result, she spent her formative years in the back of the family van, travelling constantly around Britain on tour, surrounded by a blue haze of marijuana smoke. As a performer, Kyla joined the family business in 1992 at the age of just 12.
